The Parent's Role in Effective Learning
Woohoo! You're on the list!
Parents are hardly ever included in conversations about children's education except as enablers - find a school, pay the bills, admonish when needed, be a homework alarm service and even jump in and help if needed!
Is it any wonder that we feel sort of powerless in our child's learning journey? We feel dependent on everyone- schools, teachers, tutors, coaches, academics and even politicians and social media gurus - when it comes to shaping our child's journey.
But parents do have a role - a crucial role. Our role is not so much to do with WHAT hat children should learn, but HOW they should learn.
The important question is, can parents walk the talk about effective learning?
And to be specific, while we play a crucial role, this does evolve as our child grows from early learner to tween to teens.
Here are the various stages of our child's learning journey, and our changing role as a parent, facilitator and guide in it.
